2) HURRICANE EVACUATION PLANS FOR SwingTampa.com MEMBERSHIP.................
After extensive discussions with many in our Membership, we at SwingTampa.com
have decided that, should a hurricane threaten the Tampa Bay Metro area and
evacuations are called, we will announce on SwingTampa.com that a Hurricane
Evacuation Gathering will be held!
The object is this............When hurricane evacuations are announced, we will
inform our Membership, and all those who are willing to meet up, may meet up at
the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Orient Rd. & Hillsborough Ave. on the East Side
of Tampa.
Much thought went into this idea, and here is why we decided to do this at this
location. All of this information is courtesy of Kimberly Boswell, Guest
Services Manager at the Hard Rock Hotel.........
- The parking garage is solid concrete, and would provide
excellent protection for vehicles.
- The casino AND hotel are both concrete reinforced,
including the roofs, and able to withstand winds upwards
of Category 5 strength. This is so that both the guests
AND the electronics (the games and whatnot) are well-protected.
- Hard Rock has it's own Power Generators, which kick in
seconds after main power from the outside goes down.
- Hard Rock also has it's own Security force, as well as
licensed MRT's to assist in minor medical issues and help
until EMT's can arrive.
- If management feels that there is any potential danger
to guests from imploding glass, doorways and areas surrounding
them, as well as areas with windows, are kept off limits.
- Full Service specialty staffs called "Hurricane Staff" are
assigned in the event a hurricane hits. As a result all main
services, with the exception of outdoor services, are kept
fully functioning. This includes the food and beverage areas,
housekeeping, gaming areas, etc.
- It is not necessary to check into a room in order to remain
in the facility for 12 hours or more during a storm. The
Casino, food court, The Green Room Restaurant, center lounge
and sports lounge are all open 24 hours. Floyd's Restaurant
and Lounge is also open, but with set hours.
So............IF an evacuation is ever called because of a potential hurricane,
we here at SwingTampa.com will declare a "SwingTampa.com Hurricane Evacuation"
and recommend all of our Members go to the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino where we can
gather in a safe, comfortable, and fun atmosphere.
We will provide detailed instructions on how to get there, how to make room
reservations if you choose to, contact telephone numbers for the facility, and
how we can all identify one another as SwingTampa.com Members once we arrive.
While we certainly do hope we don't have to evacuate anytime in the near future,
we do intend to give our Members an option that everyone can both feel safe and
secure about, as well as have fun with, if we need to evacuate!
