LHP Zach Duke made his major-league debut Saturday night, striking out nine and allowing three earned runs in seven innings. Duke led all minor-league pitchers with a 1.46 ERA in 2004 in going 15-6 in 26 starts with Single-A Lynchburg and Double-A Altoona. Duke was 12-3 with a 2.92 ERA at Triple-A Indianapolis this season before Pittsburgh purchased his contract Friday.

Fantasy Analysis
Duke now has 21 strikeouts in his first three starts, although he is not considered a strikeout pitcher. He has posted 17 straight scoreless innings, although one would have to figure the bottom will drop out in one of his next few starts to even things out. He is a great pickup in NL-only leagues if still available, but we cannot recommend him in mixed leagues just yet.
