Hi all

Nathalie Dechy to beat Karolina Sprem
stake 4/10
odds: 1.619
bookie: Pinnacle

There are some really serious slumps this season in wta tour. But that worst one is definetly Karolina Sprem slump.Likeable croatian who is one of the hardest hitting ball girl on tour continue to dissapoint week after week.It is hard to belive that it was only a one year luck of her good playing, because it was looking like she has got extremly big potential to be one of the top players even in whole decade. First of all she never like to practising too muchand when she started to cooperate with Borna Bikic, who is very dark character in wta, it was clear that it could be only worse and worse with her form, but probably no one expected that she will go down from 17th place in the entry to 61st. Her biggest problems are definetly stamina, serving and keeping the ball in play longer than four or five shots. She is trying to 'kill' almost every ball and hit a winner but it is impossible for the player who is completly out of her normal shape.Karolina has also no luck in draw and she will meet in the first round one of the top french playersDechy. Nathalie had a great start of the season, reching semi final of the Australian Open, but after that huge success something did not work correct for few weeks.
Maybe she had some big personal problems about most of people did not know , maybe she felt to confident on the court and was thinking that matches would be winning themselves witout big trying from her side. She lost even some first round matches but it looks like everything is coming back to right order and Nathalie starting to play on her normal, very high level. Her last four tournaments was semi final in strasbourg, 3rd round of Roland garros, quater final in eastbourne and 4th round of Wimbledon whereas Sprem lost twice in the first round of the eastbourne and wimbledon, than won and lost once at fed cup against germany.Nathalie is a very tough player to beat, she usually does not move from end line hitting thr ball very hard and precisly under her opponents feet. When Karolina is getting such a balls she rather hitting the balls into net or out of court.Dechy's weakest point of the game is serve but if we compare it to Sprem's serve it does not look bad. Nathalie is very regular player, she can hitting the ball really long in rallies so if you want to win the point you need to hit some winner along the line which Karolina in current form just can not do.All in all Nathalie has all in the hand to win this match, and should not have problems to get into the 2nd round.

Peer to beat Groenefeld
odds: 1.830
stake 4/10
bookie : Will Hill
The first round clash between the qualifier from Israel Shahar Peer and Anna Lena Groenefeld from Germany. We could see some really nice performance during all this season by Peer, she is barely 18 years old but is definetly a top 20 material, with a tons of potenial proving her abilities week after week.
Sharah is a dog fighter, her court movement is just amazing, she can hitting the ball very long but she is not a smashnova type who is putting the ball in the middle of the court without much power. Peer also can hit a lot of winners, she has good volley technique and her worst part of the game is serving but she is still improving that. This game is being placed on hard surface which is definetly a Peer advantage.Israelian won 73 of 92 matches played on hard in her career and she feel a lot of confidence playing on that kind of surface.
Groenefeld is typical hardhitter but she feel better on slower surfaces like clay or hard in Australia.Lena is trying to put a winner in almost every shot whichis very difficult when you are playing with Peer, and it is twice difficult when you are not in the best shape. Anna lost last week in the first roundto Sania Mirza in straight sets, and belive me that indian player is not a high level player. What is interesting Peer beat yesterday Mirza in qualifying tournamentin straight sets so she is in good shape, she also reached quater final of the last week's Cinncinati losing only to Patty Schnyder who won whole tournament. All in all It could be not a very easy match but definetly Shahar has a lot more chances to win than player from Germany.

double for today

Mirza(+6,5 games ) to beat Williams
stake: 3/10
odds: 1.769
bookie: 5dimes

I never aprreciate that indian player Sania Mirza but she prove me I am worng, she made a really big entrance to tennis world beating Us Open champion and one of the best player in last years Svetlana Kuznetsova.Week earlier she won first career title in Hyderabad so she definetly have some potential but her game is now too weak to win some decent tournaments.
However she is not one of this girls who are coming on the court lose as fast as it possible. She remind me a lotof Karolina Sprem from the last two years and she will meet tonight with this year Wimbledon Champion Venus Williams. We must remember
that Venus had allways vey big problems to beat Sprem and she lost even once with her at Wimbledon so she definetly does not like this type of the game.Venus won Wimbledon absoloutely unexpected, and maybe she suprised also herself because she lost next week to Nastya Myskina, player who is in really
big slump this season, few days ago she also lost to Nicole Vaidisova in WTT so she is definetly not in a good shape, and maybe she was celebrating too long?
Venus had this season few unexpected results being deafeted by Golovin in USA, Karatnatcheva at Roland Garros, or Farina Elia in Dubai. And what is the most important thing Venus always need couple of games to get into the match and games won is the most important thing in this bet. Even if Mirza lost in straight sets I don't believe that she is not able to win 6 games with being not in the best condition Venus.

Schnyder to beat Bartoli
odds: 1.244

Patty is one of the top player this season. When everybody was looking on Russians winning grand slam after grand slam she prepared to the season really well and upset many higher rated players. She is doing so good that she is still in top 8 of champions race rank higher than such a players like Serena Williams, Svetlana Kuznetsova or Elena Dementieva.Bartoli still has many injuries, and is not in the perfect shape. If you not in your perfect shape you can forget about deafiting Schnyder this season.Patty won Patty won 2 titles in 2005 so far and it looks like she is hungry for more.

Clijsters to beat Williams
Stake: 4/10
Odds: 1.77
Bookie: Pinnacle

Last year was full of russian domination. Everybody was missing belgians(Kim and Justine), porbably two greatest players alive today in my opinion. Venus was playing all year long last season ans was defeated by Kuznetsova, Dementieva, Bovina , Myskina and Sharapova. American could not oppose them and did not win anything. Most of the tennis fans were counting the days to belgians come back and when they return, they won every tournament they was playing.Kim won 17 matches in a row beating Myskina, Petrova, Dementieva, Mauresmo , Davenport and Sharapova. She proved one more time that she is someone special in wta world. They both are playing really nice this week so far, but Venus had luck yesterday defending matchpoint thanks to controversial line call, whereas Clijsters yesterday's appearence was completly outsanding. She let her opponent to win only 5 or 6 balls in the second set. When they met for the last time Venus won, but it was totally different situation from today. It was first tournament for Kim after injury and Venus was really on fire trying to win the diamond raquet. Now Kim is on fire recovirng completly after knee injury from June whereas Venus is not playing such a good as she was at Wimbledon.

Vento-Kabchi to beat Sromova
stake:4/10
odds: 1.455
bookie: 5dimes

It is a really huge suprise that Hana Sromova trough the qualies and now we can see her in the main draw. Hana Sromova has no good serve, no power in groundies or not even good net play. Her court movement is maybe not that bad but she is definetly not the player from the highest level.Hana is very specific player, she used to slice her forhand which is not very effective against such experienced player like Vento-Kabchi. I mean Venezualian is also not a top 10 player but she can play on high level and make trouble ot almost everyone on the court. She is very good doubles player, can serve and volley well and her court movement is also really well, if she is a good double player it also means that she can return well. Both are not in the best shape if we would see on their achievements this season but if we would see on her potentiall and abilities it is clear to me that Vento-Kabchi should advance to the 2nd round.

Potito Starace - Stefan Koubek

Pick: Starace
Bookie: Pinnacle
Odds: 1.59
Stake: 6 units

Starace is far in better shape playing man here, he defeated already tougher opponents this year on his fav clay surface. Koubek should seems to be in rhythm according to Kitzbuhel result, but IMo its some kind of exception, good result reached on home ground, I doubt that should be long therm progress for Austrian who struggled this year on other events.

Chakvetadze to beat Benesova @ 1.704

Anna Chakvetadze is a young russian, one of the member of russian revolution which we could see in the last couple of years. If we want to see how fast she is improving her game, we should look at her year end ranking. 2002- 764th place, 2003-373rd place, 2004-83rd place, August 2005- 33rd. It is clear that she is not one of the many players from the top 50 in the rank but she is someone with a huge part of potential and could reach even top 20. She is practising a lot with her coach and want to improve all of her bad parts of the game.Whereas Benesova in my opinion is one of the most lazy players on tour. I saw many times when she was broken for the first time she started to give up on the court and stop fighting.Last time when we could see Iveta Benesova in good shape it was march 2004(won title in Acapulco) but she did not play that good never since. All last year was one big slump, losing many times already in the first round whereas Chakvetadze was doing better week after week. Both have simillar style of play, the biggest difference is that Iveta is left-handed and Anna has more energy to fight and now she has more abilities to play tenis on the high level.Chakvetadze won 40 of 53 games played on hard in her career and today match is going to take play on that kind of surface. Benesova reached quater-final last week in Stanford upseting Schaivone and Peng which was definetly a big suprise for everybody but this weak she was nearly out of tournament one more time in the first round, finally she won a killing three-setter with Zuluaga who was out of the game for two last months, whereas Chakvetadze beat in straight sets young french star Tatiana Golovin proving one more time that she is very talented and already has the game to beat top players.

Mirza to beat Garbin @ 1.408

Sania Mirza is now one of the top contender to win newcomer of the year award. She won already won tournament and beat many great players like Kuzentsova or Kirilenko. At the start of the season she was on 169th place in the entry system , now she is on 59 so she is definetly imrpoving her tennis all time but we should also remember that she couldn't play in a lot of tournaments during april and may being injured really bad. Now she is recovered, ready to fight and to win many matches on tour. She past trough the qualies without any question, whereas garbin had luck because her opponent has to retire in the final round of the qualifying tournament. A very important thing in this match is surface, Sania is a hardhitter, she loves to hitting a tons of winners and playing really fast, Garbin definetly prefer slower surface and reach better results on clay. Mirza won 95 of 113 games on hard in her career, and in my opinion has all in the hand to win this match even not playing her best because Garbin is not the player who can make a lot of problems on hard surface to such a type of player like Sania.

Jankovic(-6 games) to beat Sromova
stake:3/10
odds:1.855
bookie:5dimes

This is the match when David meet Goliat, two players from total different worlds. Jankovic made a very impressive progress during last year, her game is solid, she can hit the ball over and over, her serve is improved, her movement is great and she start to being a really tough player for everybody. When we look on Sromova, it is really hard to say about her good parts of the game, it should be one of these very fast matches ended in less than hour. Jankovic is in the good shape, she proved that last two weeks reaching quater-final twice, and she proved that yesterday being 2-5 down in the first set, she finally won the whole match 7-5 6-0 winning 11 straight games against amy frazier who is definetly a better player than Sromova. It will be not suprise if we will see a double bagel in this match.

Chakvetadze to beat Likhovtseva
stake: 3/10
odds: 2.130
bookie: 5 dimes

It is the match when we could see a Likhovtseva versus her young copy on the court. I wrote this week how big progress Anna made in last couple of years.Chakvetadze is not one of these russians, she is not a hardhitter, she rather used to play counter attack and has excellent defensive game. She doesn't try to kill every ball how fast as it possible but she used to putting the ball with right depth and power, her game is finding the weak points in her opponents game and trying to get advantage of this.

Likhovtseva is that type of player who is not on the cover of every tennis magazine but she is always in top 20 of the rank. Her game is hitting the ball over and over waiting for errors but also can volley well. Anna is not the type of the player with who Elena likes to play. Likhovtseva will have to attack and trying to hit some winners which is not her normal game and it is a big advantage of Chakvetadze in this match. In my opinion it is the best test for young player to play with Elena Likhovtseva, she is a type of player you can't beat if you don't think on the court. Anna is an intelligent player, first time when world heard about her was last year at us open when she beat Myskina her own weapon - counter attack game.

Likhovtseva was playing yestarday her first game since wimbledon and won after a killing three-setter against shahar peer, being bageled in the first set. It shows that she is not in the perfect shape here, maybe she is preparing for toronto when she has a lot points to defend because she reached there final last year.Anna so far beat Golovin and Benesova , both in straight sets and it looks like she is in the perfect shape here to win at least one more match.

Karatantcheva to beat Sugiyama
odds: 2.030
stake:3/10
bookie: 5dimes

It is a match we can call a clash of generations. 16 years old Sesil Karatantcheva against 30 years old Ai Sugiyama. Totally different style of play, and totally different situations in world of wta for them. Sesil is biggest rising star in the tour right now beside Vaidisova, whereas Ai is one of these players who rather think sometimes that should stop playing tennis profesionally and retire. There are some facts which are saying that it could be a right decision. San Diego is already 18 tournament for Sugiyama this season, she is playing so often because in the most of these tournaments she lost in the first rounds, here she reached scarcely first qauter final of the year which is definetly something not to be proud of for former top 10 player.

Sesil is still improving her game, last year she was not ready yet for plying with senior players but this she has shown her true colours. In two grand slams she drew Sharapova in first rounds , but when she got the opprtunity she reached qauter final of grand slam roland garros defeating Venus Williams.Last year roland garros junior champion starts to reaching good results also in wta tour. Sesil is a hardhitter , but doesn't have powerfull serve which is the weakest point of her game.Sugiyama is a fast runner, she doesn't have hard ground strokes and also not powerfull return which is a big advantage of Sesil in this match. So far Sesil won 43 out of 55 games on hard in her career, it is showing that her game suits to hard courts. To be honest, in my opinion Ai has a luck to be here so far, she beat Hantuchova with a lot of help from Daniela, and also beat Kuznetsova yesterday but Svetlana also helped her. After winning first set she made 56 unforced errors and finally lost and also Sugiyama first round opponent had to retire at the begining of the match , whereas Sesil made quick work of Mashona Washington winning in straight sets, in two first rounds she beat also very experienced players Asaoge and Raymond.

All in all Sesil is in better condition right now, improving her tennis day after day, has the game which is already enough good to beat such a players like Sugiyama, and what is maybe most impotant, her part of the draw is wide open and she has a lot of chance to reach tier 1 tournament .

Zheng to beat Asagoe
stake : 6/10
odds: 2.440
bookie: 5dimes

Clash between two asian players, continent which is been on top last couple of days in wta. Both of them being absent lately, Asaoge had to recover from injury and Zheng had to play a National Championship in China where she reached a semi-final. Asaoge started season really well, the us open 2004 quater-finalist achive final in Auckland and semi-final in Tokyo her home country. But after that it was still worse and worse, being defeated many times in the first rounds and if we want to know how bad is Asagoe's conidition know we should look at her last ten games. She lost 7 out of her 10 last matches in wta. She had also many healthly problems during last tournaments, problems with foot at roland garros, and problem with shoulder during season on grass, now she need few matches in my opinion to get into her normal shape.

Zheng also started season really well, she even won a single title in Hobart, then she played well on clay reaching quater-final of Estoril and final of Rabat. After that Chinese federation make all chinese players to play in national championships and they couldn't play the grass season. Zheng is not playing in such many tournaments as Asaoge , but if she is playing she is reaching nearly always some good result. They met each other already once this season, when both were in their top forms at the start of the season. Zheng won easily in straight sets 6-2 6-3. Asagoe is a typical japanese player, she is running fast and waiting for her opponents errors but when she is playing with Jie she has to look on. Zheng is a very solid player, she can hit the ball long over and over, and her flat shots are very dangerous, she can hit a lot of winners also. What is maybe most important, Zheng has much better serve, she is also a good double player so we can be sure that she can volley well, and hit the return exactly where she want.

All in all in my opinion Zheng is now in better shape than Asaoge who seems to be not in her best shape in last tournaments, and also Zheng has more abilities in this moment to beat Shinobu what she proved already this year beating her on the same type of surface.
