I went to the Ocean Jewel on a recent Friday morning. It is a casino gambling boat docked a few miles off Florida in the Gulf of Mexico. First you have to get on a shuttle leaving from Treasure Island, just north of St. pete's Beach. (I only had a disc with 4 or 5 photo's left on it guh)

It left dock at 10AM and arrove at the bigger boat promptly at 10:30AM. A really big vessellwith 5 floors of gaming, allthough it did seem a bit beat up. I guess it used to haul corn and still smelled of it. I found a 5 dollar crap game with really good dealers.

I managed to win a 100 bucks on the dice table and called it a day as i was just checking things out and brought back a few souvenires. (who knows how long this place may be around)

The shuttle got me right back as I left on the 1 PM one as they go every hour on the hour.

Check and call ahead to see there schedule at www.oceanjewel.com. Thenearest land based craps and BJ games are 600 miles away from me in Biloxi so I guess this is as good as it gets here.

I haven't been to a casino on a boat.... I ll be in Florida in December, maybe Ill check it out too....

how far was the boat from your house?

It was a 40 minute drive to the shuttle, then a half hour on that. I'm about 40 minutes to the Trop also and 30 minutes to RAYJAY, can get to the FORUM (Lightning games) in 25 minutes.

not bad.....i am near the 2 biggest casinos in the world, but it's still a 45 minute drive to one and 1 hour to another....
