Charlton will assess the fitness of captain Matt Holland. The midfielder suffered suspected concussion playing for the Republic of Ireland in midweek and will be given every chance to recover. Darren Ambrose starts a three-match ban following his sending off against Sunderland last weekend, while centre-back Gonzalo Sorondo is also again suspended. On-loan Manchester United defender Jonathan Spector (hamstring) is another doubt. Jason Euell (shoulder), goalkeeper Dean Kiely (finger) and Kevin Lisbie (nose) all remain out.

Wigan boss Paul Jewell is sweating on the fitness of record signing Henri Camara. He picked up a foot injury in Senegal's friendly international with Ghana on Wednesday. The Latics could have just one fit striker in Jason Roberts. Graham Kavanagh (foot) is definitely out, while fellow midfielder Lee McCulloch also looks likely to miss the trip with a knee injury.

Charlton won impressively against last season Championship champs Sunderland, beating them 3-1 at the Stadium of Light in their season opener. Wigan could consider themselves less fortunate against Chelsea losing out to a 93rd minute Herman Crespo's strike after looked to have done enough to deserve a point. But on just a -1/2 ball in handicap, there is value to back Charlton on their home opener against Premiership newcomers on their first game on the road.
