Strategies for Winning Using SportsInsights.com: How to Win

Members of SportsInsights.com have access to some of the most powerful betting information developed in the last decade. Like any information, it’s only as good as the person using it. There is no right or wrong way to utilize the information. Over time, successful members develop their own unique approach. A few common methods utilizing this unique information are outlined below. May the line be with you! How to win long term at sports betting.

Place Bets at the Correct Sportsbook:
Placing your bets at the correct sportsbook is probably the easiest How to Win betting strategy. All Sportsbook are not the same. Where you place your bets is as important as who you bet on. By simply placing your bets with the correct sportsbook you can increase your winning percentage by 3-4%. Read Full Article

Smart Money Method:
The Smart Money Method requires extreme patience and precise timing. This method primarily looks for betting line movements that contradict the betting percentages. For example, SDG vs. OAK, (SDG +5 and OAK -5). Say Sports Insights is telling members that 80% of the bets being placed are going on OAK, but the line moves against OAK to -4. The Smart Method bettor knows this is a sign that the “smart money”, large wagers made by single individuals, has come in on SDG. They immediately search for a sportsbook offering SDG +5, and then quickly get down. This method is enormously successful, but requires extreme patience and quick timing.

To help members success with this betting strategy we have created the Smart Money alerts features. This features alerts members instantly to Smart Money moves PLUS records the results of each play based on the triggering sportsbooks. Not all sportsbooks are equal...and Smart Money bettors profit from it.Read more about Smart Money betting strategy.

Bet Against the Public:
This is one of the most popular and simplest How to Win methods used by Sports Insights members. The logic is simple: always bet against the public. Which ever team the public is loading up on, simply bet the other team. There is a reason why sportsbooks are in business. SportsInsights.com pioneered the use of " betting percentage" data from online sportsbooks to " Bet Against the Public". We have over 3.5 years of data (from 2003 to present) to support the claim that "Fading the Public" is profitable. Read articles showing results of Betting Against the Public for all major US sports. (NFL, NBA, NCAA Football, NCAA Basketball, and NHL) Read Research Proving that "Betting Against the Public" is Profitable

Wiseguy Info Method:
Use the Wiseguy Info feature to help pinpoint games that have "smart money" (large wagers on one side) coming in, causing the line to move in the opposite direction of the betting % . Betting lines move for all sorts of reasons. Sports Insights helps members pinpoint which games the Sharp money is on. Our unique relationship with some of the biggest online sportsbooks provides us access to information unlike any in the world. Sign up today and experience some of the most consistent winning information money can buy. Always follow the smart money. Visit Wiseguy Info of the Day

Value Method:
The Value Players are always looking for betting line value. They watch line movement and draw on Sports Insights’ betting percentages to pinpoint lopsided wagering on one team. Heavy betting and money on one team will cause the betting line to move drastically. This is when the Value player swoops in and bets the opposite side, always being sure to bet the best possible number. More times than not, when games come down to a point or two, the Value Player is smiling.

Square Info Method:
Over the years this has become one of the most effective ways to utilize our information to increase winning percentages. Countless members have successfully used our betting percentages to not only stay away from the “square” or “sucker” line but to profit from it. A “square” or “sucker” line is a betting line designed by sportsbooks to lure the public into heavily betting one way. Square Info Method requires close monitoring of betting percentages on SportsInsights.com before making a wager on any game. Square Info players always check to make sure the public isn’t heavily favoring the team they plan to bet on. Usually, if a line is too good to be true, then it’s a sucker line. To help members win, SportsInsights.com tags the biggest Square Games of the Day. This feature is free to Premium and Premium Pro Members. View Today's Square Plays

Steam Moves
Steam Moves analysis represents a new twist on an old betting strategy. Since the advent of sports betting, the holy grail in sports betting strategies was to "beat the move" (steam plays). The logic is simple enough: watch the betting lines and when you see a drastic line move "steam" (typically caused by a large movement of money) find a bookie or sportsbook that is slow to move, and bet the same number as the "wiseguy" (a person/group that has the power/money to move a line). This strategy had its ups and downs for years. Blindly following every steam move caused a lot of players to go broke. A lot of times "wiseguys" would use the “steam following” to their advantage. They would knowingly bet on the wrong side just to obtain a more favorable number when they finally "bought back" on the other side. Some of biggest names in sports betting (The Billy Walters’ of the world) would do exactly that. Bet $50K on the home team only to see the market overreact, then bet $150K on the side they wanted, usually getting 1.5 to 2pt move in their favor. Read more about Steam Moves betting strategy.

SureBets
SureBets analysis is the newest edition to SportsInsights.com's betting strategy arsenal and represents the future of sports betting information. As the sports betting industry matures so do the sports betting strategies. SureBets can best be described as an "arbitrage" betting strategy. An arbitrage bet, is a set of bets where you are sure to win money, irrespective of what the outcome of the event turns out to be. You cannot lose. Read more about SureBets betting strategy.

Been using that since its inception... If you know what you are looking for it is useful. The charts are where you can do well.
The graphs are deceptive because it is a % of bets taken and not actual monies taken in ...

There was a time when it was 100% free ... Sportsinsights was.

Betting Against the Public -- NCAA Basketball
"Betting Against the Public" has traditionally worked in college basketball. SportsInsights.com's Square Plays had averaged about 55% up until the past two seasons. The past two seasons have been around 50%, bringing overall results since inception down to about 53%. The overall data set results in slightly sub-par results compared to SIs Square Plays. What is the difference between Square Plays and pure "betting against the public?"

With such a large selection of games, SportsInsights.com is able to focus not only on games that the Public loves, but also games that indicate the existence of Smart money and Sharps.
Focus on games that have a higher number of bets and a national audience.
Industry contacts are helpful in finding "circled games," "trap lines," and "Sharp money" -- especially on super-busy college sport Saturdays!

Betting Against the Public -- Competitive Games
In the NHL, we saw that we could improve results by fading the Public in games that are expected to be more competitive. The researchers at BettingCharts analyzed this factor -- and interestingly found the same to be true on college basketball. More specifically, we found that in games where the "opening line" was -3.1 to -8.1 (small home favorites), "betting against the Public" resulted in a 56% winning percentage and +50 units over the past two seasons.
The interesting thing is that this point spread range is almost centered around the average point spread. (The average college basketball team favored by around -4 or -5 points). We're pleased that a method that worked in one sport (hockey) works in another sport. We don't "love" using an additional parameter in our approach to researching betting systems -- but this approach seems to make sense and is another contrarian approach that can help investors identify "value."

This is for their lines and odds service. Although I believe you will see all their plays as well. They are good guys and I have used their services for years, I never look at their plays though. Bluemyboy is probably the best guy to ask, and I'm sure he'll chime in with some info when he sees this thread.

FADING THE PUBLIC

Many use the Sports Insights information to help identify "public" games that have a little extra line value. When you see a game with less than 30% of the action on one team, often times the books know they can shade the line by a half point or a point - thus increasing their profit margin in the long run.

So, often contrarian bettors will "fade" the public when Sports Insights data flags a game as a public game to be on the side of the bookmakers and gain the line value.

The Public is on Baylor - so you'd take the line value and play TAMU.

Texas A&M vs. Baylor: Public is on Baylor / Value Play is TAMU (http://www.sportsinsights.com/spreadbasic.aspx?sport_id=12&v_nss=575&v_date=2/14/2009&gtype=4)

http://www.fantasybetszone.com/imgs/TAMUvsBAYLOR.jpg

SMART MONEY

When you see 75% of the bettors on the favorite, and the line goes down instead of up, then that is an indicator that smart money is on the underdog. So even though most of the bets are on the favorite - there are some large players putting so much money on the underdog - and fading the public - that the books move the line the other direction and stop trying to shade the line at the public's expense, and instead encourage more action on the public side by reducing the line to balance their action.

Smart Money is on IOWA so you'd lean to the Hawkeyes plus the points.

Purdue Vs. Iowa - Line is dropping with 80% on Purdue: Smart Money on Iowa (http://www.sportsinsights.com/spreadbasic.aspx?sport_id=12&v_nss=559&v_date=2/14/2009&gtype=4)

http://www.fantasybetszone.com/imgs/IOWAvsPURDUE.jpg

These concepts are best used as another tool in your handicapping toolbox. There are many times I wanted to hammer a public team because it seemed so obvious that they should pummel the underdog in college football, but seeing the sports insights data kept me from stepping out on those TRAP BETS.

FWIW I generally love graphs and charts, but I think it is easier to use the tables for Sports Insights.

Please don't hesitate to ask questions if some of this doesn't make sense.

to be honest, never liked those graphs SI has. Basically the entire jist behind SI is that you are getting information on how bets are coming in lie at actual sportsbooks. And then in essence we are betting with the same side as the book and believing that more often then not the player is wrong and the book is right. Most of the time this is just because the public has no idea how lines are set and thus may think a line looks legit when it should actually be 3 points different.

I would read a bunch of the articles that SI has first.... most are easy reads and have winning systems hidden in them.

The #1 thing I think SI looks for and has always looked for is a game where most of the public is on one side but the line moves the opposite way. For instance if the public loves Duke at -4, the line should move to -4.5 and -5 due to the large public action on Duke. If however the line moves the opposite way to 3.5 and 3....then you have smart money. Which is basically something that is strong enough...be it big money or a legitiamite gambling shark....moves the line against the public action. And due to the unconventional line move the book would take a loss if one team lost. Books dont like losses, so we look to also play the opposite of the public. And we would try and find one of our books that still had the +4 thus still getting max value on the play....as opposed to taking the moved line at +3.5 or +3.

That is a general intro, but again take a look at some of their articles first.

THANK YOU guys! I really appreciate it!

EDIT: I have a friend of mine who just told me that he receives the smart money alerts and always plays against the suggested play on team. He said that there are a ton of sharp bettors and that they make money over time. What do you guys think?
