View Full Version : the economy and no recession
Sears Holding Corp. swung to a $56 million first-quarter loss, the retailer reported Thursday, as its customers were forced to spend more of their money to cover the soaring costs of gas and food. ITS JUST A REPUBLICAN SLOWDOWN!
In 2000 we wished for tax cuts—and got large deficits and widening income disparities.
• We wished for less regulation—and got the subprime crisis and mammoth losses on Wall Street that forced firms to raise capital from sovereign wealth funds.
• We wished for a weaker U.S. dollar so we could export more—and got rapidly escalating oil and corn prices as foreign governments preferred holding commodities over dollars.
• We supported invading Iraq—and found our country trapped in a war we don't know how to end and a price tag of $2 trillion-$3 trillion.
• We wished to keep our free-enterprise health-care system and wound up with out-of-control health-care costs that make our companies less competitive—and still we have 45 million uninsured citizens.
• We abandoned the Kyoto Treaty instead of renegotiating it—and lost vital time as climate change became a growing global issue.
As a result, trust in the President and the Congress, as well as in business leaders, has fallen to the lowest levels of our lifetime, according to Gallup poll numbers. That should be a source of grave concern.
GET RID OF THESE LYING REPUBLICANS AND THAT BIG MOUTH IN CONN.

GOP getting crushed in polls, key races
John McCain is planning to run as a different kind of Republican. But being any kind of Republican seems like some sort of death sentence these days.
In case you’ve been too consumed by the Democratic race to notice, Republicans are getting crushed in historic ways both at the polls and in the polls.
Things are so bad that many people don’t even want to call themselves Republicans. The Pew Research Center for the People & the Press has found the lowest percentage of self-described Republicans in 16 years of polling.
“The anti-Republican mood is fairly big, and it has been overwhelming,” said Michigan Republican Party Chairman Saul Anuzis.

Clone of Bush? So you are saying that what we are doing over threre is having no effect. Problem is that people see the old headlines and allow them to stick with them. Check out some of that statistics on the actual War over there and see that what we are doing is having an affect. And from what I remember I do not think Republicans were the only ones to vote to go to war.

What do you even mean by this? We nor the oil companies have any direct control over pricing. People need to realize that. Looks very stupid to claim the oil companies are setting the high prices and it is just America's fault. In fact those two assumptions are no where near what is actually going on. anyone who does a little acedemic research beyond the media hype will actually see what our energy sector is really like. Now I hear people saying that oil companies should not be investing in alternatives, this after the same people were asking what were oil companies doing to lower the price of oil and add alternatives. No one will be happy until prices go down, which crude prices have. Yesterday was a two week low. If we had to pay the full taxes for gas, the price per gallon would be up over 7-8$ a gallon. You should feel lucky that you don't feel the real cost of Oil.

This must be the republicans fault as well. I mean world demand way outpacing the US demand has nothing to do with it. Do you blame the republicans when you lose a bet as well? I mean its all their fault right?
